    Le Palazzo Vecchio, avec ses audacieux créneaux en queue d’hirondelle et son clocher asymétrique, est le plus parlant des symboles de la ville. Cette mairie a été l’emblème du pouvoir florentin depuis le XIVème siècle, sous différents gouvernants. Ce palais crénelé surplombe la Piazza della Signoria, la plus belle place de la ville, et une réplique du David de Michelange. À l’intérieur du palais, l'escalier monumental de Vasari mène au Salone dei Cinquecento, où les membres du Haut Conseil se réunissaient autrefois. L’intérieur est orné d’art de la Renaissance, notamment d’œuvres de Michel-Ange. Le Palazzo Vecchio est l’un des plus beaux musées florentins qui soit déjà passé au XXIème siècle en termes de présentation multimédia. Pendant votre visite, le palais vous révélera différentes histoires, notamment des anecdotes sur la vie à la Cour des Médicis. Pour une visite mélancolique, optez pour une excursion nocturne : le Palazzo Vecchio est généralement ouvert jusqu’à très tard entre avril et septembre. L’une des visites permet d’explorer la tour et les remparts, tandis que l’autre vous fera traverser une passerelle en hauteur jusqu’à la Galerie des Uffizi, qui est essentiellement la première partie du Corridor de Vasari (réservez un créneau).
