    Cette demeure a beau être impressionnante on s’y sent quand même comme dans une maison privée. Elle a commencé son histoire en servant de foyer à un marchand d’albâtre perspicace, et ses héritiers y vivent toujours. Giuseppe Viti (1816-60) a parcouru le monde pour présenter ses marchandises, il a vendu son albâtre en Inde au rajah local et fut ensuite curieusement nommé Emir du Népal. La façade de la demeure est attribuée à Ammannati, qui a également travaillé sur le Palazzo Pitti à Florence. Chaque salon est plus grandiose que le suivant, orné d’art, de porcelaine et d’albâtre pour rappeler que le palais appartenait autrefois à l’un des citoyens les plus riches de Volterra. Les bâtiments de la Renaissance comme celui-ci, contre toute attente, s’accordent gracieusement avec les maisons médiévales de Volterra. Après avoir exploré les palais patriciens, repliez-vous vers Le Cantine del Palazzo, les celliers étrusco-romains situés sous le Palazzo Incontri-Viti, pour y prendre un verre ou un repas, dans un cadre rappelant une caverne, avec pour décoration des citernes romaines.
